BioThis land is all too shallow
It is painted on the sky
And trembles like the wind-shook rain
When the Raven King passed by.
I don't own the poem (that's Susanna Clarke, whose ballad of the Raven King is featured in her novel Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell), but I do love the poetry. And something about the perceived shallowness of the real world rings true to me when I'm emerging with cobwebbed brain from the pages of a book or the word-smithing of my own stories. Sometimes, the only depth comes in what my words paint on the sky...
